The son of Jacob & Maria Orner, he married Sophia Catherine Lupp November 20, 1845, and fathered Theodore Calvin (b. 12/02/46), Alensa G. (b. 11/09/49), and Franklin Henry (b. 10/05/57, d. 09/16/70). In 1860, he was a carpenter living in Butler Township, Adams County, and stood 5' 8" tall with black hair and dark eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he was drafted in Adams County October 16, 1862, mustered into federal service at Gettysburg November 6 as a sergeant with Co. I, 165th Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"), reduced to ranks December 24, 1862, and honorably discharged with his company July 28, 1863, in Gettysburg.
He died at age 50-3-20.
