GEORGE NESTER, 61, IS TAKEN BY DEATH
Apoplexy Fatal to Wealthy Retired Lumberman.
George Nester, wealthy retired lumberman, died suddenly at 8 o'clock Saturday night at his residence, 297 East Grand boulevard following a recurrent stroke of apoplexy.
Mr. Nester was in his sixty-first year. He was a native of Michigan and for about 35 years had made his home in Detroit. Born in Saginaw, he was the son of the late Thomas Nester, pioneer lumberman and removed to Detroit with him in 1887, continuing the Nester Lumber company, which his father established.
Until recently, Mr. Nester resided in the mansion at Woodward and Willis avenues, removing to the boulevard only when the house was razed for a more modern structure.
In 1893, Mr. Nester married Miss Rosemary O'Donnell, of Saginaw, who, with five children, one sister, one brother and his mother, survive. The children are Misses Margaret and Martha Nester; Thomas, George and Robert Nester; Mrs. Michael J. Bourke, sister; Frank P. Nester, brother, and Mrs. Thomas Nester, his mother.
The funeral will be Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock from St. Charles Roman Catholic church. Burial will be in Mt. Elliott cemetery.
