Three weeks before her death, Virgie had pneumonia. She died of convulsions at 3:30 Sunday morning, on January 30, 1921 at the age of 1 year, 6 months and 16 days. The funeral was conducted from the Carlton Durfee home on Monday afternoon at 2:30. She is buried in the Little Sioux Cemetery next to Anna Marchael Armstrong. When they were digging her grave, they run into Anna's coffin.
