Eunice C. (Holschbach) Mella, age 85, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, died Thursday morning, January 9, 2014 at Shady Lane.

Eunice was born on June 29, 1928 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Paul and Clara (Dirkman) Holschbach. She attended St. Boniface Grade School and was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1946. She married the late Leonard F. Mella on July 23, 1949 at St. Casimir Catholic Church, Northeim. Eunice was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and also St. Casimir Catholic Church. Eunice enjoyed family time, working on her wood crafts, bird feeding and watching, making kolaches and baked goodies and the time she spent with her family and friends. Eunice was employed at Invincible Metal Furniture for many years.

Survivors include her three children: Glenn & Katherine (Cass) Mella, Manitowoc, Monica Schmidt, Brillion, Gary & Terry Mella, Fitchburg; five grandchildren: Wendy (Kevin) Grelson, Koren (Bryan) Zipperer, Kimberly, Kaitlyn & Grant Mella; two great grandchildren: Bruce & Bram Zipperer; a family friend: Clara Svatek; and one brother, one sister and three sisters-in-law: Vernon & Dorothy Holschbach, Grace T. Brandl (Frank Bremser), Dolores Holschbach, all of Manitowoc and Rita (Norbert) Pritzl, Cato. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses: Jerome Holschbach, Bernice & Donald Barta, Harvey & Corrine Holschbach, Paul & Rose Holschbach, Donald Holschbach, Arnold Brandl, Marvin & Pat Holschbach; and six sisters-in-law and their husbands: Rose & Stanley Tadych, Martha & Wilbert Mallman, Cecilia Mella, Gertrude & Fred Bast, Agnes & Frank Greskowiak and Phyllis & Jerome Wojta.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand - 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William Brunner. Cremation will occur after the service and her cremains will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 until 10:45 a.m.
