Mary was born and raised at Manor House, Great Warford. Life was comfortable as her family had a very large home and were considered to be well-situated financially. Mary attended school, practiced her keyboard studies, and attended the local Methodist church with her parents in the village of Great Warford. Great Warford was considered to be a very small town, but was near to the larger town of Alderley Edge. Here, Mary enjoyed life in a picturesque setting until she reached early adulthood.
By the age of 25, she had met and married Frank Jennings of nearby Sandlebridge. It is thought that perhaps it was their mutual love of music that first drew them together. By 1911, the couple would make a life altering decision. They would travel by ship to Canada, and would raise their family there. They arrived in Calgary, Alberta first, then by 1918, travelled to Victoria, BC, where they built their home, and planted permanent roots.
Mary enjoying cooking and all other home related domestic activities, and continued to play the piano and sing. She particularly enjoyed singing in the St. Aiden's United Church choir for many years.
Mary died at the age of 77 and is remembered for her pioneer spirit, her music, and her legacy of family throughout the British Columbia region and beyond.
