Bio

I live in Victoria, BC, Canada, and have been doing family history since the mid-90's. I was excited to find a photo of my 2nd great-grandfather's gravestone that included other family didn't know about. I came to appreciate the extra layer often provided on memorials, and am happy to help others when I can.

Please note that while I would love to help, I am unable to address requests with "unknown" birth and death dates.

LOCATIONS PLEASE - Contact the cemetery for specific plot info (just a Section does not provide adequate info to locate a marker). It would be appreciated by photo volunteers who would otherwise have to make those requests on your behalf, particularly with the number of requests being made given the popularity of FAG.

Most of my photos are from Royal Oak Burial Park, which is large at 135 acres. Some individual sections are as large as several city blocks, and not conducive to wandering about looking for a grave marker.

CREMATION - Please do not assume someone is buried in the cemetery indicated on a BC Death registration. Most cemeteries do not have their own cremation facility, and rely on one of 3 or more crematoriums in the Greater Victoria area - including Royal Oak Burial Park, Hatley Memorial Gardens and First Memorial Garden. They provide cremation services for the entire region and ashes are often interred or scattered elsewhere, or given to family members.
