Find a Grave ID

Bio

I live in Victoria BC on Vancouver Island. I have been doing genealogy research for my ancestors for several years. I have only recently started volunteering to take photographs for Find A Grave.

I have learned very quickly that trying to help photograph requests without enough details on a gravesite/family member means it is almost impossible to find that specific plot. There are hundreds or more of plots in each section of a graveyard. Some cemeteries cover more than 135 acres of land.

Suggestion - when requesting a photograph call the Cemetery office and ask them if they would supply you with the Section, Row and Plot number for the plot you are wanting photographed. They will need the first and last names for the person buried in that site as well as the birth year and year of death. This information is needed by the volunteer looking to locate and photograph the correct plot.

It's peaceful, fun and a bit like solving a puzzle when wandering through the sections. Without basic information it's almost impossible to narrow down the search area.
