Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient. He was born in Schuyler County, Pennsylvania. He entered the U.S. Army at Camp Winfield Scott, Humbolt County, Nevada. He served as a First Sergeant in Company I, 1st U.S. Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for action during 1872-73 in the Apache Campaign. His citation reads "Gallant conduct during campaigns and engagements with Apaches."
