Karen Alvord Hill Allred
1940 ~ 2018
I am a child of God, and he sent me here, gave me an earthly home, with parents kind and dear. I was born February 12, 1940 in Ogden, Utah, to Paul Edmond and Arlene Skeen Alvord. I was raised in North Ogden, Utah. I passed from this mortal life on October 6, 2018 to return to my Heavenly Father.
I graduated from Weber High School and Seminary in 1958, attended USU, and graduated from Weber College and Institute in 1960. I enjoyed being involved in all kinds of school activities.
While attending Weber College, I met Jack Emmett Hill. We married June 9, 1960 in the Salt Lake Temple for time and eternity.
Jack was employed at Kennecott Copper so we made our home in Magna, Utah in 1961. We were blessed with two "almost perfect" children, Brian and Natalie.
Jack passed away in 1998. In 2001 I moved from Magna to Reunion Village, South Jordan, Utah, to be closer to my parents. It will be a joyous occasion as I reunite with my eternal companion, Jack, and my loved ones.
I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and a love for my Heavenly Father and His Son. I've served in many church callings and was a Daughter of the Utah Pioneers. I loved serving as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple and phone operator in the Jordan River Temple.
I married Gary Dean Allred in 2002. We served a mission at the Pacific Island Area Office in Auckland, New Zealand as Family History Advisors to the Pacific Islands.
I have always been a "people person" and have been blessed throughout my life with wonderful friends. Being a homemaker rated #1. I also served many years in PTA and was employed by Granite School District for 28 years.
I have had a wonderful life filled with joy and happiness. My greatest interests were my church, family, and friends. "Riches in life are not silver and gold, but family when you are growing old." My family is my dearest treasure. I loved nothing more than being with them. We looked forward to family dinners, vacations, cruises, holidays, outdoor adventures, and just being together. Cherish the memories we created together and continue to love each other.
My loved and adored family consists of son, Brian Jack (Karen) Hill, daughter, Natalie (Mark) Casper, six granddaughters, one grandson and their spouses, 3 great granddaughters, and one great grandson.
Survived by husband, Gary, his family, brothers, Scott (Jackie) and Ross (Shelley) Alvord. I have a special love for my extended family.
All my love until we meet again,
Mom, "Shop till you drop" Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister, Auntie and Friend
So her whole family could celebrate together, services have been scheduled for Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 11:00 am River Ridge 8th Ward, 1409 W. Shields Lane, South Jordan, Utah. Visitations will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W.
