Mrs. Louise Barschow, 81, the last survivor of one of Two Rivers' earliest families engaged in the commercial fishing enterprise more than a century ago, died at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Boutin, 2016 School St., at an early hour Wednesday. She had been residing with her only son since her husband died at Two Rivers on Dec. 17.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Klein & Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. C.V. Hugo officiating. Interment will be in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Mrs. Barschow, nee Louise LaFond, was born in Two Rivers in 1873, a daughter of the late Mitchell Sr., and Margaret Jourdain La Fond, who were among the first settlers in Two Rivers, immigrating from Quebec, Canada. Her father established one of the first commercial fishing rigs in Two Rivers in the days of the old sailing mackinaws.

She was married at Two Rivers in 1895 to Albert Boutin, who died in 1904. In 1927 she was married to George Barschow at Two Rivers.

Mrs. Barschow leaves two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Hetue of Two Rivers and Mrs. Robert Hayworth of Milwaukee; a son, Lester Boutin; a step-daughter, Mrs. Alex Anderson of Manitowoc; 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

For many years Mrs. Barschow was affiliated with the Royal Neighbors of America and the Altar Society of St. Luke Church.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 p.m. Thursday to the time of services. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 7:45 p.m. Friday.
