Minnie Dilworth, 98, Brandon, Fla., went home to the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010. Minnie, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, was a lifelong resident of Gadsden and a faithful member of the First Methodist Church. In 2004, she moved to Brandon and resided at Hawthorne Inn Assisted Living. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Wayne Dilworth; her parents, Lemuel and Alice Chamblee; two brothers, Alton and Fritz Chamblee; and two sisters, Derah Donehoo and Gladis Anderson. She is survived by two children, a daughter, Carole Edwards (Harry), Valrico, Fla.; and a son, John Dilworth (Pat), North Canton, Ohio; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Campbell (Tom), Valrico, Fla., Jason Edwards, Plant City, Fla., and Johnny Dilworth, North Canton, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren, Olivia and Adam Campbell, Valrico, Fla., and Harry and Jake Edwards, Plant City, Fla. Minnie will be remembered for the selfless giving of her creative talents. She lived a simple life, but had a profound faith that was reflected in the way she treated others. Her life focus was not on earthly things, but on things above. Concerned for all and loved by many, she will be dearly missed. The family wishes to thank the caring staff and friends at Hawthorne Inn and the caregivers and medical professionals at LifePath Hospice. She will be buried beside her beloved husband at Forrest Cemetery in Gadsden. Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service Tuesday at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
