Lemuel Lafayette Chamblee, 86, of Oneonta passed away March 22 in Tuscaloosa. Born in Blountsville, he was the son of the late Newton and Martha Arnold Chamblee. He was a retired Standard Oil distributor and a member of Oneonta First Baptist Church and Oneonta Masonic Lodge. He is survived by two sons, Alton S. of Tuscaloosa, Fritz of Jacksonville, Ark.; three daughters, Mrs. R. F. Donehoo (Derah) of Oneonta, Mrs: Roy Anderson (Gladys) of Nashville, Tenn., Mrs. Wayne Dilworth (Minnie Mae) of Gadsden; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, R. F. Chamblee of route two Blountsville. Funeral services were conducted March 24 at 2:30 p.m. from Oneonta First Baptist Church with the Rev. George Allison officiating. Interment was in Old Liberty Cemetery. Howard Lowry, Arthur Dunkin, J. W. Belyeu, and Gene Pruett serving as honorary pallbearers along with Dee Hazel, John Huie, R. E. Moses, Jack Royal, Andy Moses, W. M. Chambers, Will Moore, and Vick Thompson.
