Jean Accurso, age 92, passed away on October 23, 2017 in Dallas, TX. She was born on February 19, 1925 to John and Leonida Schuhmacher. Jean was raised in La Grange, TX. She graduated from Seton School of Nursing in 1945. She married George Boyce in 1947 and the couple had 3 children. She married Ben Accurso on September 13, 1983. She was one of the first hospice nurses at VNA hospice and worked there for more than 30 years. In her spare time, Jean enjoyed watching Texas Rangers baseball, taking cruises, going to casinos, making jewelry and spending time with her family. Jean was very involved in her Catholic faith. In her retirement, she volunteered at VNA hospice and the VA hospital. She was also an officer at the VFW Women's Auxiliary. She is preceded in death by husbands, George Boyce and Ben Accurso who were both WWII combat veterans. Surviving family members include her daughters, Donna (Ronnie) Anderson, June Boyce and Joan (Dean) Miller, granddaughters, Shannon Talbert and Sarah Anderson, 2 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. The Accurso family will greet friends at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home on Thursday, October 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 27th, 2017 at Saint Bernard Of Clairvaux Catholic Church. Jean will be laid to rest at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
