When Kristine's older sister, Marta Tonette, lost her first husband, Anders Imenes, in 1898, she needed help in her house, because she was left alone with the management of the shop in Grimstad. She had several young children, and Kristine helped her. In Grimstad she came to know Halvor K. Aamli from Herefoss. They married in Fjære church in 1903, and settled later in Hamar, where Halvor had a position in the telephone service.
