Josephine Eileen Abbagliato passed away at Hancock Hall, Danbury on October 26, 2018 at the age of 90 with her loving children by her side.
Jo was born on October 14, 1928 in Torrington, CT, the daughter of the late Joseph and Regina (Mazzochi) Piazza.
She married the love of her life, Michael, in October, 1947 and together they raised 3 children. After her retirement from Boehringer Ingelheim in 1991, Jo and her husband travelled and got to spend quality time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she adored more than anything.
Jo was predeceased by her husband, Mike, who she was married to for 69 years. Survivors include her beloved children: Michael and his wife Diane of New Milford, Angela and Paul Yagid of South Kent and Jeanne and Al Garzi of Brookfield. Jo was adored by her 7 grandchildren, Deena and Brian Sterry, Rick Abbagliato, Paul and Jen Yagid, Michael and Jess Yagid, Rob and Kylie Yagid, Ashley and John May and Dan Garzi. In addition, she is survived by her 12 great-grandchildren, Trevor, Devin, Brooke and Courtney Sterry, Owen, Quinn, Addy, Levi and Waverly Yagid and Ethan, Brody and Bailee May.
Jo is also survived by her "baby" sister, Rita Olivier, several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Her sister, Francesca Martinelli predeceased her.
The family cannot thank the staff at Hancock Hall enough for their compassionate and loving care of Jo ~ she loved them all so much.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018 at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield, with the Rev. George O'Neill, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in New Milford Center Cemetery, New Milford.
Friends and family may gather from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018 at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury.
