John Jackson was born in Albemarle County, Virginia where he lived with his parents until the war of the American Revolution. He enlisted and served in the American Army under Baron Von Steuben and was a valiant soldier for three years until the close of the war. He moved to Kentucky and lived in Madison County until he helped form the county of Laurel and the town of London, Kentucky. He participated in the seige of Boonesborough under the command of Daniel Boone. The government gave John Jackson land for his services in the Revolution.
Married Mary Forest Hancock in Madison County, Jan. 17, 1787.
