Myrtle Smith Bowers Andersen, 95, was born April 4, 1922, in Burley, Idaho, the tenth child of Charles Henry Smith and Lillie Velety Stokes. She died Jan. 28, 2018,, at Heritage Home Memory Care Center in Preston, Idaho.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and over the years held many, many positions of service. Her father was a bishop of the Pella LDS Ward near Burley, Idaho, for over 17 years.
She was loved by all who knew her. She loved being outdoors, camping and fishing. As a young girl she worked in the fields, picked apples and cherries in the fruit orchard, rode horses, milked cows, and swam in the canal. She loved animals and was never seen without a dog or a cat or two. She had no middle name.

She was known simply as Myrtle or Myrt or Grandma Turtle. Her grandchildren say she has traded in her turtle shell for angel's wings.
