Benjamin Alexander, one of Cowley county's old land marks, and a most respected citizen, died August 5th at noon and the body was laid to rest August 6th at 3 o'clock p.m. at Mt. Vernon cemetery. Mr. Alexander came to Cowley county in 1872 and for twenty-three years has lived on his farm in Vernon township. About five years ago he suffered a paralitic stroke, and has been on the decline ever since, until he was relieved of the cares of this life on last Monday. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn his loss, to whom the heartfelt sympathy of many friends are extended.
