Martha (Horton) Lavender was born on March 15, 1929 in Limestone County, Alabama, the daughter of Sullivan Horton and Maggie ( -- ) Horton.
She was married to Floyd Lavender (ca 1921- ).
Doing laundry work and living at #79 Peabody in Nashville, Tennessee, Martha was 17 years old, married and at home on October 6, 1946 when someone shot her several times in the abdomen. She died of hemorrhage and shock two days later at Nashville General Hospital. Burial was three days later in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashville.
