Alex *may have* been born as John Alexander, but never used his first name. He was born in either TN or SC to Raleigh "Rholla" Hood and Ann(a) McKinney. He married on Sep 23, 1855 in Benton Co, AR to Rachel Graves. According to the census, they had 14 children (twelve have been identified). Alex served in Co. H, 7th Cavalry (or Infantry) of the Enrolled Missouri Militia. This unit was later reorganized as the 15th MO Cavalry. Alex died at the age of 49 at his home near Hurley in Stone Co, MO.
