Mrs. Bollinger was born on January 10, 1927 in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Lewis Jacob and Ethel Irene (Showalter) Wenger. She was a longtime member of Weavers Mennonite Church. Janet worked for Mennonite Broadcasting until her retirement in 1979. She crocheted prayer shawls for the Sentara RMH Cancer Center. Mrs. Bollinger enjoyed spending time with her family and babysat her grandchildren.
On October 12, 1946 she married Paul Bollinger, who preceded her in death on September 21, 2006.
She is survived by her children, Phyllis Branner and husband Lanny of Harrisonburg, Steven Bollinger and wife Rebecca of Richmond, Michael Bollinger of Stanleytown, VA, Joetta Warring and husband John of Mesa, AZ, Gail Anderson and husband Gary of Salem, VA, and Edward Bollinger and wife Kimberly of Harrisonburg; one brother, William Wenger and wife Margaret of Harrisonburg; one sister, Pauline Nice of Newport News, VA; sister-in-law, Mary Wenger; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Sharon Smith.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bollinger was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Wenger and a sister, Geneva Brunk.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11 AM at Weavers Mennonite Church with Pastor Phil Kanagy officiating. Burial will be held privately.
