Emilia Henne was the daughter of Johannes and Dorothea Christina (Hoffman) Henne. She was born in Coleharbor, McLean County, North Dakota on December 28, 1907. Emilia married Albert Engel on January 19th, 1928. They resided at Garrison where Albert was a grain farmer and Emilia was a housewife. She kept very busy with a large garden, cooking, baking and handwork. When relatives came to visit, they would visit in their native language of German. (Her heritage was Germans from Russia.) Emilia would always put on the tea kettle when people came to visit and it was common knowledge that you would always have something to eat before leaving. After Albert passed away in 1988, Emilia moved into the Quinco Apartments and later moved to the third floor of the Garrison Hospital. She died in Garrison, North Dakota on January 2, 2003. Her survivors are sons, Leonard (Bud) Engel and wife Joyce; James (Jim) Engel and wife Marilyn; daughters, Gloria Patterson and husband Gene; Linda Ash and husband, Jerry. Emilia had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren also. She was preceded in death by two infant sons, daughters Gladys Winn and Arlene Jackson, and grandson Larry Engel.
