Helen was born on September 2, 1918, in Chicago, Illinois, to Carl and Florence (Nordquist) Lindstrom. The family moved to Wilmette, Illinois, when Helen was just two weeks old. She attended Wilmette Elementary school and graduated from the New Tier High School.
On June 22, 1940, Helen was united in marriage to Frederick Aschbacher at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wilmette. Helen was active in her church where she taught Sunday School and Confirmation Classes. She worked as a drape maker and seamstress, and also enjoyed making quilts. She would continue to live in Wilmette until 2012 when she moved to Spooner to be closer to family.
Helen is survived by her children Caryl (Ronald) Johnson of the Virgin Islands, David (Maria) Aschbacher of Sweden, Stephen (Emilie) Aschbacher of Spooner, and James (Lisa) Aschbacher of California; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister Jean Wiley of Idaho.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick; her daughter Susan; and her brothers Stanley and Arnold.
