AGE: 80 • North Brunswick

Spiros Gianos died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at his home in North Brunswick. He was 80. Born in Gythion, Greece he had lived in East Brunswick before moving to North Brunswick 30 years ago. He attended the New York School of Technology where he received a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for Johnson and Johnson in New Brunswick for 15 years where he invented patents for the Deltalite Cast which replaced the old plaster of Paris casts. He retired in 1989.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years Mary Jane (LaPlante) Gianos; two brothers - Soulis Giannakokis of Athens, Greece and Giani Giannakokis of Munich, Germany; his goddaughter Aphrodite of Athens; and cousins Peter and Pauline Pazas of Union.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick with a funeral service to start at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery in the Middlebush section of Franklin Township.
