He was born in Pittsfield on June 25, 1925, son of Samuel and Sylvia Adelson. He was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. After high school, Gordon volunteered for the U.S. Army and served in Europe during World War II. After the war, he attended the Wharton School of Business and received a degree in accounting and earned his CPA.
He worked for and was a partner in Adelson, Schwatz and Jette, and Adelson and Company He has been retired for many years, spending many winters in Florida.
He married Ida Lubin, the love of his life, on December 28, 1947. They were married for 50 years, until her death on February 28, 1998.
He was a lifetime member of Knesset Israel.
He leaves his sons Bruce E. Adelson, Michael R. Adelson and Mark R. Adelson (Deborah); grandchildren Sam, Nate, Sarah, Jessie, Haley and Allie and his great-grandson Parker Forest Hamilton. He also leaves his sister-in-law Molly Novick.
