Find a Grave ID

Bio

Albany, NY Metropolitan Area (Rotterdam/Schenectady). I am able to provide rough translations of Hebrew names.
-------
Current projects:
*Schenectady: St. Joseph's (Kings Road) to add GPS and plot section for all graves, plus initial photography for many graves, with a bonus of eliminating duplicates with Old St. Joseph's along the way. Many thanks to Suzanne S. for her patience with my edits!
***Current status: All sections photographed as of 10/28/23; have created memorials off all my photos as of 12/30/23. It will be a few months to upload all the photos I have. If I have created a memorial and the plot gives the section, I have a photo; please use the 'Request Photo' feature to let me know you're interested in seeing it, and I'll gladly upload it within a day or so :)

Otherwise, I am not typically adding my photo to memorials if one exists, except when the stone has been updated. If the existing photo is 5 years old, my photo's resolution is likely better; if you want the updated photo added, please use the 'Request Photo' button on the memorial. Upon request, will also retake photos impacted by grass clippings or goose excrement [there's a flock of at least 40 geese that is there every. single. time. I visit...]

-------
Recent and past projects:
*Saratoga Springs: GPS and newer memorials on nearly all graves at the Jewish Community Center Cemetery, building off Alice's fantastic photography and creation
*Herkimer: Updated photos and GPS on all graves at Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church cemetery, my grandparents' and great's resting place
*Oswego: GPS on the Congregation Adath Israel section of Riverside Cemetery
*Rotterdam: GPS and newer memorials at St. Adalbert's, building off Jeni's photography and creation
*Albany/Guilderland: GPS, adding thousands of new memorials, straightening out cemetery boundaries, and moving hundreds of memorials to the correct cemeteries of the Jewish cemeteries on Western and Fuller; helping the delightful Alan K. finish documenting Beth Emeth as well!
*Schenectady/Rotterdam: GPS on the Jewish cemeteries, also building off Jeni's photography and creation
-------
Have iPhone, will GPS! I enjoy attention to detail and strongly encourage transcribing inscriptions, however mundane they are, to help those using assistive technologies.
-------
Why I do this: I know what it's like to have relatives in a 100k -plot cemetery and have no idea where to start to find them. Even cemeteries of just 1,000 stones...your eyes start to numb after a while trying to find the one you're looking for. GPS, GPS, GPS!!! And living in the Northeast...Mother Nature takes a toll on gravestones. What is legible today may not be in ten years.
