Mrs. Delilah Hill Dies at Residence On 98th Birthday

One of the oldest resident of Franklin, Mrs. Delilah Hill, died early Thursday morning at her home, 698 South Dunn street, on her 98th birthday.
The widow of the late C. A. Hill, she had resided at her present home for over 60 years.
The body has been taken to the Flinn mortuary where services are to be conducted Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock. Burial will take place in the family lot in Greenlawn cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday afternoon, and in the evening from 7 to 9 o'clock, and are invited to attend the rites.
Mrs. Hill was born in Jennings county Dec. 14, 1852 and was the daughter of John Quincy and Sarah LaFary Carson.
She was married to Mr. Hill on Aug. 28, 1879, and they came to Johnson county immediately after the ceremony and began housekeeping in the Union community.
About 1879, the moved to the home where they resided until their deaths. They were the parents of three children. a daughter died in infancy, and a son, Emery E. Hill, died in New York Jan. 2, 1926.
One son, Leslie Hill, who resided with his mother, survives with a grandson, and three great-grand daughters. Several nieces and nephews remain.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian church, and attended as long as her health permitted.
Mr. Hill, who operated a candy store on the square for many years, died January 3, 1943.
