Professional Football Player. For ten seasons (1969 to 1978) he played at the position of defensive tackle and defensive end in the National Football League with the New Orleans Saints and the New York Jets. He was also Team Captain for both the Saints and the Jets. Born in Minden, Louisiana, he attended Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, and Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge where he played collegiate football with the Southern Jaguars (1965 to 1968). He was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the 2nd round (45th overall) of the 1969 NFL Draft and played with them before being traded to the New York Jets in 1973. He spent five seasons with the New York Jets before being traded back to the New Orleans Saints after the 1977 season. During the course of his career, he played in a total of 120 NFL games. After his retirement as a player, he worked for the New Orleans Saints public relations department, and later as a field consultant for the Popeye's Fried Chicken restaurant franchise. He was on a business trip to St. Louis, Missouri, when he died from heart failure at the age of 35.
