“Mother of Prominent Business Man is Dead. Funeral services were held at Quincy yesterday for Mrs. Emma J. Cloman, mother of James C. Cloman of Quincy. She died at St. Helena Monday morning.
Mrs. Cloman was visiting her son here when taken ill, and was removed to the lower altitude in an effort to save her life.
She was 64 years old, a native of New York state. She made her home in Los Angeles in recent years, frequently visiting her son here and her daughter in South Dakota, Mrs. Marguerite Kepple.
Mrs. Kepple was with with her when she died, and attended the funeral here.“

Emma Jane Hamilton was born 1868 at Bellmont, Franklin Co., NY. Her parents moved their family to Grundy Co., Iowa just after 1870. By 1885 they next moved to Lake & Minnehaha Counties, S.D. Emma Jane & S.H. Cloman were parents of two children - Margaret and Leander Cloman. They moved their family from South Dakota to Los Angeles, CA about 1922 as did also her widowed mother Clarinda and two other sisters. S.H. Cloman died 1925.
Emma Jane’s headstone was erroneously engraved “Emmer J.”.
