MARTHA E. LARSON of Stanwood, Wash., died peacefully in Tucson, Ariz., on June 30, 2018. Martha (Marty to those who knew her) was born Nov. 1, 1935, in Ellensburg, Wash., to Fred B. Jurgens and Sara (Sadie Rousseau) Jurgens.

Martha married Joseph Edward Crane and together they had three wonderful daughters.

In 1974, Martha met Royal Larson of Perrinville, Wash., but they didn't marry until March 1982.

Martha worked for Northwest Farm Food Co-op for 25 years before she retired in May of 1998. Five months later she and Royal along with her daughter Colleen, her husband Gary, and their two boys Daniel and Paul, moved up to Stanwood, together.

Retirement kept Martha busy with the never ending chore list around the property and camping on the Skagit River in Concrete, Wash., with her friends and family. She also tried to spend as much time as she could with her sisters. Martha loved Girl's Week-end.

Royal passed in 2010 and Martha was lost without him. She moved into her daughter's Colleen house in 2013. A year later, she moved down to Tucson, Ariz. to be closer to her two daughters Gabi Tiefenbrunn and Cami Trowbridge and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Martha is survived by her sister Frances Bosler of Yakima, Wash.; daughters Gabi Tiefenbrunn and Cami Trowbridge of Tucson, Colleen Schwartz of Stanwood, and two step-daughters Robin Wolfe of Mountlake Terrace, Wash. and Lisa Michlig of Sumner, Wash. She is also survived by four grandsons: Matthew and Spencer Trowbridge of Tucson, Daniel and Paul Schwarz of Stanwood; along with two beautiful great-granddaughters, Nora and Olive Trowbridge of Tucson.

Martha taught us a lot along the way. How to be strong, how to persevere and keep learning new things. In the end, she is still teaching. Her body was donated to the University of Arizona for new minds to learn from her old body.
