Born in Portsmouth, VA as a daughter to a Senior Navy Chief she relocated to North Carolina where she spent the majority of her life in both Jacksonville and Wilmington. She had a passion for knowledge and a love for those in need. She attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington where she received her bachelors and went on to the University of New England where she graduated with a masters in social work.
Jan will be remembered as a child of God and a member of the Catholic Faith, daily spreading the love of Christ to her family who have rest knowing she is now in the loving arms of the Lord. She battled cancer for the last four years where her faith and her love for her family and those close to her gave her strength. Jans love and legacy carry on through her husband Todd; daughters: Krystal (Rob), and Chrissy (Ryan); son Jeff (Kristin); sisters: Pam and Donna (Mark); brothers: Sammy (Codi), Jason, and Tommy; grandchildren: Brandon (Alena), Jacob, Jerret, Jaden, and Shelby; great-grandchild Ansley; stepmother Linda.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral & Cremation Service. The Funeral will be held at 2pm on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Roger Patton officiating. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
