Mrs. Anna Marquis, a resident of Staunton for about 65 years, passed away at the St. Francis hospital in Litchfield on Friday morning at 5:30 o'clock, having been a patient there for several weeks. She was aged 86 years, 11 months and 28 days.

Mrs. Marquis, whose maiden name was Zang, was born in Alsace-Lorraine, France, on January 12, 1860, and would have observed her 87th birthday anniversary Sunday. She grew to womanhood in her native land, and in 1878 she was united in marriage with Adam Marquis. In 1881 they came to America, locating at Staunton. Mr. Marquis passed away on April 9, 1926.

The funeral was held Monday morning at 9:00 o'clock at St. Michael's church, Rev; Father P. H. Masterson conducting the services. Interment was at Memorial Park cemetery.

Mrs. Marquis is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Betty Bloome, Mrs. Emma Jirik, Mrs. Alma Bradley and Miss Lena Marquis of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Anna Brockman and Mrs. Minnie Fischer of Staunton; two sons, Simon Marquis and Adam Marquis of Staunton; one brother, Michael Zang of this city; eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also other more distant relatives.

Mrs. Marquis was a member of St Michael's church. During her long residence in our city she made many friends, all of whom join in expressing sincere sympathy to the members of the bereaved family. She lived a long and useful life, and her death marks the passing of another respected old citizen.
