“Mona” was born August 31, 1928 in Danville, Virginia to Paul and Rosa Grace Smart Carr. Raised in Danville, she moved with her family to Norfolk, Virginia at the beginning of World War II where Ramona graduated from Broad Creek Village High School.
After graduating, Mona married and raised two sons. A loving mother, she was active in her sons’ various pursuits. Mona retired as Medical Librarian at DePaul Hospital, Norfolk, VA.
She was an avid gardener and loved working in her yard, vegetable garden and flowerbeds. She enjoyed many activities: bowling, board games, traveling, fishing (a sport she shared with her father and brother over the years), dancing, cruises and loved riding her bike. She also loved to sew making many beautiful items of various descriptions. Reading was a passion in her later years, sharing books with family and friends. She also likes to crochet making bedspreads, lap robes and baby attire.
Family came first with Mona. She was devoted to her sons, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members welcoming them into her home at any time with food, fun and laughter. Great memories were made during these many occasions.
