Jennie Jose Grant Sullivan passed away Sunday morning, February 17, 2019 at the Bee Hive Homes in Butte. She was born in Butte Tuesday, January 27, 1920 to Almond B. and Jenet “Jennie” Jose. She attended the Grant School and married Eugene G. Grant here in Butte and together they had three children. Following his death, she married Joseph Michael Sullivan on December 14, 1974, and he passed away June 20, 2002.
Jennie loved life! She loved gardening, singing around the piano with loved ones, loved to travel and share her 99 years of history from Butte and “Frisco”. She was an amazing cook and loved family traditions. She was a longtime member of Mountain View Methodist Church, bowled for years, a 50+ year member of the East Side Auxiliary, belonged to the Butte Pioneers Club, the Atherton Garden Club, the Cornish Cousins the Elks Does and loved camping at Ralston and Georgetown Lake. She also loved her gambling trips to Jackpot, Nevada, gambling with her daughter Connie and dancing at the Columbia Gardens.
Jennie worked for School District # 1 as a janitress for many years, and was proud of the work she did with the WPA following the Great Depression. She also worked in the Greeley School Day Care for several years and said she served as a guide at the C. M Russell Museum.
Jennie is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Connie LeVasseur of Butte, Carol and Dick Riley of Seattle, Washington, 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Eugene G. Grant, Joseph M. Sullivan, her sisters, Bess Johns and Rita Flanick, brothers, Dick Jose, John Jose and tom Jose, her parents, son, Richard William Grant and grandson, Eugene Alden Mayo.
Jennie’s family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to everyone at the Bee Hive Homes, especially Kim and Billy, Compassus Hospice, Father Haffey and Dr. Taverna.
She is remembered as Twerp-Gram and as she left would always say “Too-da- loo”. Well Gram, “Too-da-loo.”
