Mrs. Jane Burke, 79, died on Thursday afternoon at her home on 26 Deerfield Street after an illness of about two weeks duration. Mrs. Burke had been in failing health for some time and old age and a touch of pneumonia was the cause of her death. Mrs. Burke was one of the oldest Greenfield residents, coming to this town some 60 years ago. She and Mr. Burke celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1895. She was a loveable woman and a good mother and her death is mourned by a large number of relatives and a host of friends. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Burke, a daughter Mrs.Edward Sears of New York, and two sons, Edward Burke, and James M. Burke, probation officer of the District Court. There are also 14 surviving grandchildren. The funeral was held Saturday morning at Holy Trinity and burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
