Yvette Maurer Bushnell, 85, of Lake Point Landing, Hendersonville, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care’s Elizabeth House following a period of declining health.
She was born in St Cloud, Minn., the daughter of the late Leo and Edna Maurer. She received her nursing degree in 1942 from the St. Cloud Hospital School of Nursing, and was licensed by the State of Minnesota as a registered nurse the same year. She served in the US Army Nurse Corps at the Hoff Army Hospital in San Diego, CA before leaving for the South Pacific Theater of Operations during WWII. She was stationed at Milne Bay and Hollandia, New Guinea with the 27th Station Hospital and later in the Lingayan Gulf of Luzon, PI. Following the war she worked for the Veterans Administration in Washington, DC and Swannanoa before retiring in 1976.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant son, John Fredrick Zellner and a sister, Sister Mary Sylvia.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Dean Bushnell; her daughter, Marjori Ann Roberts and her husband John of Kingsport, TN; two brothers, Harold Maurer of Lexington, VA; Keith Maurer of St. Cloud, MN; a grandson, Jeffrey Roberts and his wife Anna of Raleigh; two great-grandsons, Owen and Henry Roberts; several nieces and nephews and their children, and two step-sons, Jon Bushnell and his wife Linda, and Jason Bushnell and his wife Susan.
