Our beloved mother, Betty Ann Malan Ashwood, left her earthly home, Monday, March 1, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Betty was born in Vinita Ok, on August 16, 1938 to Boyd and Naomi Ruth Malan. Not long after her birth, her parents returned to Muskogee where Betty spent the rest of her life. Growing up Betty attend Longfellow School, Alice Robertson Jr. High and Central High.

On December 17, 1956, Betty married Floyd Ray Patterson and had 2 children, Floyd Ray "Pat" Patterson Jr. and Luanna Ruth. In 1964, after 7 years of marriage, Floyd passed away in an accident. She later met and married Charles Richard "Dick" Ashwood on May 4, 1965. From their union they had 5 more children, Betty Ann, Charles Richard Jr., Matthew Robert, Andrew Ryan and Aaron Russell. Dick and Betty spent their lives on their dairy farm south of town, where they raised their family for 46 years, before Dick's death on February 16, 2012.

In her youth, Betty worked at Coney Island and My Place Bar BQ, but when she started her family, she took on the job of home maker, where she was the best "momma" ever. Betty was always involved at her children's school, where she was the president of the PTA and homeroom mom. As her children grew and moved up in school, Betty went along helping wherever she was needed. After all the years of volunteering at Hilldale Public School, she became an employee in the 1980's, running the school concessions where she loved working with the students, teachers and administration. She retired from there in 2010.

Betty is survived by her sisters, Linda Sewell, Sue and husband Dee Davison and Tina and husband Jerry Crane, all of Muskogee. Her children, Pat Patterson and wife Tammy of Muskogee, Luanna Ruth Hodges of Inola, Betty Ann Hinds and husband Jerry of Muskogee, Matthew Robert Ashwood and wife Stacey of Muskogee and daughter in law Jennifer Ashwood of Muskogee. 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and people she cared for.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents Boyd Raymond Malan, Naomi Ruth Cloyd Malan, husband Floyd Ray Patterson, brother Charles Marvin Malan, her son's Charles Richard Ashwood Jr., Aaron Russell Ashwood, and Andrew Ryan Ashwood, her husband Charles Richard "Dick" Ashwood, grandson Floyd Ray "Rocky" Patterson III.

Services for Betty Ashwood will be held at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home at 2801 Chandler Road in Muskogee on Saturday, March 6 at 10 am. Burial will follow at Brushy Mountain Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers for the service will be Corey Todd, Tony Cabrera, Austin Patterson, Jeff Patterson, Dylan Hodges, Matthew Ashwood, Jr. Public viewing will be Friday, March 5 from 10am to 8pm. Family will greet friends from 5pm to 7pm.
