Martha was born September 28,1897 at Mount Olive, Illinois to the late Ernst and Frieda (Schadlich) Hochmuth. She was married to Leonard Gaines who preceded her in death in 1990.
She is survived by a sister Lena Reimers of Leasburg, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Along with her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Hochmuth, and five sisters, Edna Kertis, Clara Kellogg, Anna Keiser, Minnie Hochmuth and Elsie Pazdernik.
Funeral services for Martha Gaines were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, November 11, 1996 from Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri, with Reverend Oliver Mullen officiating. Interment was in Laurel Hills Memorial Gardens in St. Louis, Missouri.
