Obituary for Robert "Bobby" Hollingsowrth
Athens - Bobby Hollingsworth was born in the Athens Community of Monroe County, Mississippi, on May 9, 1932, to Cleve and Alma Howell Hollingsworth.
He graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1950, and married Betty June Kendall of Amory, MS, two years later. She died in 1991.

Bobby was a member of the US Navy and served on the USS Chandler in the Korean War. For over 25 years, Bobby was an employee of North East Mississippi Sand and Gravel. He later managed the Monroe County Landfill and served on the Board of Three Rivers Solid Waste.

Bobby met Tula Rose Montgomery on his birthday, May 9, 1992. Later that year he married Tula on November 21, 1992. They were happily married for 24 years.
Bobby will more likely be remembered for his love of family, involvement in the Athens Community, and commitment to Paine Memorial United Methodist Church. Gardening was a lifelong passion and he graciously shared vegetables including his infamous tomatoes every year. Other hobbies included watching MSU sports, listening to Bluegrass music and watching Fox news.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Tula Rose Montgomery Hollingsworth; two daughters and two step daughters, Bobette (Bob) Brizendine of Atlanta and Vicki (Eddie) Denaburg of Birmingham; Julia (David) Seely of Hamilton and Marilyn (Rick) Chism of Fairhope, AL. He was affectionately called “Paw Paw” by his grandchildren: Ashley Brizendine, Brad (Madison) Brizendine of Atlanta, Joseph and Matthew Denaburg of Birmingham, Wesley (Elizabeth) Stephens of Nettleton, Hannah Seely of Columbus, Ben (Whitney) Seely of Starkville, Katy (Chris) Coffey of Fairhope and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, and Betty, the mother of his children.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 30 at 1:00 pm at Paine Memorial United Methodist Church followed by the burial at Howell Cemetery. Bro. Sammy Washburn, Dr. Wesley Stephens, Bro. Brownie Tohill will officiate the service. Pallbearers include Brad Brizendine, Joseph and Matthew Denaburg, John Sheely, Billy Wayne Head, and Robert Odom. Honorary pallbearers will be Leonard Bennett and Jessie Ballard.
