Notes From Cooperstown:
Last Friday evening, March 22, Mr. Thomas Peppard one of the early
pioneer settlers of the town of Cooperstown was called to the land
of eternal joy and happiness. Mr. Peppard was in failing health for
the past four years. His death was due to old age, he having reached
the advanced age of 92 years. The decedent was born in Ireland and
came to America in 1842 and was married to Miss Anna McGarvey. They
settled on a farm in Cedarburg, Ozaukee county. Later on Mr. Peppard
came with his wife and family to Cooperstown, where he lived up to
the time of his death. His wife died is 1898. After her death he made
his home with his son Michael. Six children and sixteen grand children
and two great grand children, survive him. The children are two sons,
Michael of this place and Thomas of Chicago, and four daughters, Mrs.
T. E. Park, Mrs. G. Stalham and Miss Agnes Peppard of California, and
Mrs. F. Gattroinkle of Oregon. One daughter Mrs. A. McCourt of Oconto
Falls died three weeks previous to his death.
The funeral was held Monday morning at St. Patricks church Maple Grove.
Rev. R.H. Mac Donald performed the last sad rites. His remains were
laid to rest in Maple Grove cemetery beside those of his wife. May his
soul rest in peace.
