Lori Pogharian Smith, 48, of East Fallowfield, PA, passed away on March 20, 2019,
surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Kenny Smith; parents,
Samuel and Patricia Pogharian; brother, Jeff Pogharian (Heather); godchildren Cash and
Charlie Pogharian; and a large, extended community of family and friends.

Lori was born in West Chester, PA, on October 13, 1970. She is a graduate of East High
School and East Stroudsburg University, where her membership in Phi Sigma Sigma
forged many lifelong friendships. Lori’s career through meeting planning and medical
communications allowed her to travel the world and cultivate lifelong friends, a common
theme in her life. Her last job, at AOIC, was the ultimate reward for Lori. A medical and
scientific communications firm, Lori worked on oncology publications. After her
diagnosis, she liked that she was able to give the “patient point of view” to the work they
were providing.

When Lori was diagnosed on July 11, 2016 with stage IV colorectal cancer, she learned
that several symptoms had been there for up to 12 years in advance. Lori became an
advocate through social media telling her story so no other person would have to go
through the battle she did. Her greatest days were when she got a message from a family
member, friend, or colleague, saying they had gotten a colonoscopy earlier than
recommended because of her. Lori’s journey always remained positive. She was
surrounded by support from her family, friends, nurses and doctors, and significantly, the
impact of her support groups, including Colontown.

Lori’s positivity leaves the biggest legacy she will be remembered for: her smile and friendship.
