Born Aug. 27, 1925 at Stanford, she was the daughter of the late Canada and Inez Lilly Matherly.
Mrs. Beard was a retired 34-year employee of the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. at Winston-Salem, a Baptist and a 34-year resident of Winston-Salem.
Survivors include four sisters, Avoline Epling of Flat Top, Nellie M. Welch of Princeton, Sally Matherly of Winston-Salem, and Alpha Adkins of Glen Morgan; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the George W. Seaver Funeral Home Chapel at Princeton with the Rev. Paul Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens at Princeton.
Friends may call today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
