Dorothy Boyer, 12-year resident of Albuquerque (late of the Three Fountains and Carestone Assisted Living) passed away peacefully on June 9, 2007, after a long illness. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, to John Wendel and Ida Michael Wendel, on May 8, 1927, and graduated from Newtown High School in Maspeth, NY, in 1944. Before retiring to Albuquerque, Dorothy was a long-time resident of Nahant, Massachusetts, where she was active in many community activities, serving as treasurer for the Nahant Historical Society, and as a tireless volunteer for Girl Scouts, the Nahant Village Church Woman's Guild, and the YMCA. She was one of the first female bank officers at the Old Colony Trust, Bank of Boston, in Boston Massachusetts, where she administered multi-million dollar trusts. She was also active in the Reading Business and Professional Woman's Club, serving as president of the local chapter and member of the state committee. She also volunteered for the Boston Literacy Council, and was very proud of her degree from the Williams School of Banking. She met her husband, Philip C. Boyer, at the USO during WWII; they were married in 1948, and moved from Lynbrook, NY, where her daughter, Linda, was born in 1952, to Nahant. Dorothy is survived by Dr. Linda Boyer Posler, daughter; John Posler, son-in-law; John Philip Posler, beloved grandson; Edith Spina, sister; Barbara Smith, god-daughter; Dawn Everett, special niece; and many nieces and nephews in New Mexico, Massachusetts, New York, and Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and sisters: Mildred Wendel, Betty Burke, Richard (Dick) Wendel, Edward Wendel, Fred Wendel, Olga Peters, and Tillie Erb. Visitation will be at French Mortuary Wyoming Blvd. Chapel from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2007, followed by a memorial service at the Nahant Village Church in early September, with internment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, in Nahant.
