Last Rites Held for J. D. Springer, 83
Funeral services for J. D. Springer, 83, who died from a heart attack at his home in Elrod Friday, were held at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the residence of his son Mr. Springer, with the Rev. C. M. Springer officiating. Burial was in the Springer Cemetery by Jones and Spigener.
Mr. Springer, a retired farmer, was widely known in Tuscaloosa and Pickens Counties. He was a member of the Baptist Church and had resided at Elrod all of his life.
Surviving are three sons, M. R. Springer of Elrod, S. L. Springer of Birmingham and Charlie Springer of Tuscaloosa; two daughters, Mrs. W. I. Watkins of Buhl and Mrs. A. Webb of Elrod; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers for the funeral were Edwin Springer, Robert Springer, Howard Springer, William Watkins, Claude and Clyde Wyatt.
