Actress. She is best remembered to television audiences for her roles in several popular soap operas including 'Erica Desmond/Helena Raleigh' in "Strange Paradise" from 1969 to 1970, 'Karen Martin' on "Guiding Light" from 1971 to 1972, 'Meg Dale' on "Love Of Life" from 1974 to 1980, and 'Sara Kingsley' on "All My Children" from 1980 to 1982. Born Mary Susan Wiggins in Victoria, British Columbia, she began her acting career when she appeared on stage for the first time at the age of 10 as a member of the Ottawa, Ontario Saturday Players Theatre, and by the age of 17 went onto perform with the Canadian Repertory Theatre. She later moved to New York City and made her debut on Broadway in the play, "The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie" in 1968. She also appeared in the play, "The Marriage-go-round" at the King's Theatre in Georgetown, Prince Edward Island. In 1973, she was nominated for the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Actress in a Principal Role for her performance in playwright Harold Pinter's play, "Old Times" at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Illinois. While continuing appearing in multiple stage plays, she did some radio work and continued in television and films. Besides her roles in the soap operas, "Strange Paradise", "Guiding Light", "Love Of Life", and "All My Children", she also appeared in other television shows including, "The Unforeseen", "Encounter", "Festival", "Summer Circuit", "Playdate", "The Mystery Maker", "Yesterday And Today", "Police Surgeon", "The Great Detective", and "Standing Room Only". In 1977, she also appeared as a celebrity panelist on five episodes of the popular game show, "Match Game 77". Her film credits include, "Once Upon A Prime Time" (1966), "My Side Of The Mountain" (1969), "Hot Pants Holiday" (1971), "He's Fired, She's Fired" (1984),"Hot Resort" (1985), "Brass" (1985), and as 'Esther Fry' in director George A. Romero's horror thriller, "Monkey Shines" (1988). During the 1980s, she produced, directed, and starred in her own radio talk show on WTZA-TV in Kingston, New York. Following her retirement from acting, she settled in Fowler, New York, and became a caregiver to the elderly and infirm with Health Services of Northern New York and the Community Development Program. She passed away from cancer at the age of 70.
