Edna was born in Sac City, Iowa and moved to Cowltiz County, WA when a young woman. She married George Alexander Poland in 1895. She raised her four children, Byrdee, Wayne, Loyd and Jean in Cowlitz County. Active in the Christian Church and the Rebekah Lodge and for a number of years ran a boarding house from her home.
