Heriford, an early settler, slightly past 78 years of age, took his own life Saturday afternoon on the farm homesteaded by him in 1892, 10 miles southwest of Watonga. His body was discovered by Henry Heriford, a son, shortly after the aged pioneer took his life at one o'clock in the afternoon.
Interment was in the Bridgford cemetery following the services at the home of Miral Heriford.
Heriford was born near Princeton, Mo., May 15, 1855, and moved to this section when he was 27 year of age. He was a member of the Baptist church, which he joined as a youth.
Besides his widow, Elizabeth C. Heriford, he is survived by three sons; J. W., Henry, and Miral, all of Watonga; and one daughter, Myrtle Dooley, of Carnegie, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. O. G. Matthews, pastor of the First Baptist church, Watonga, with the Keller funeral home in charge of arrangements.
