Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Synder Funeral Home for Eugene L. Hypes Sr., 78, of 390 Fahey St.

The Rev. Earl Carroll will officiate and burial will be in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.

Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today.

Mr. Hypes died at 10:40 p.m. Friday in Marion General Hospital.

He was born Nov. 5, 1901, and was a resident of Marion 40 years.

Before his retirement, he was a material handler with Marion Power Shovel Co. He was a member of Marion Lodge 889, Loyal Order of Moose.

Surviving are his wife, Addie Hicks hypes; a son, Eugene L. Hypes Jr. of Marion; 2 daughters, Mrs. John (Phyllis) Jerew of Bucyrus and Mrs. Arnold (Peggy) Brookover of Marion; a brother, Cecil Hypes of West Virginia; 6 sisters, Mrs. Ethel Ramsey of Marion, Mrs. Elda Milers of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Phala Beddow of Oregon, Mrs. Florence Legg, Mrs. Helen Morton and Mrs. Virginia Skaggs, all of West Virginia; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
