Obituary
Robert Bowen was born in Richland county, Ohio, Sept 29, 1843, and died at Ann Arbor, Mich. Jan 20, 1915, aged 71 years, 3 months and 21 days. On Jan 8 1868, he was united in marriage with Miss Rebecca J. Cline. Seven children were born to them, the oldest, Della M. having died in infancy. On Oct 8, 1862, he enlisted in company C, twentieth Ohio infantry, and gave faithful service until July 8, 1863. He was a member of Hiram Louden post, G. A. R. He was converted and baptized in to the Christian faith in 1878 and united with the Church of God in Richland county. When he came to Montpelier he united with the First United Brethern church and remained a faithful member until his death. His wife, one brother, two sisters, five sons-Lenonard E., Charles S., and Orley H. of Montpelier, Bert H. of Moblie, Ala, and Elmer B., of Coldwater, Mich-one daughter, Mrs. Ella M. Price of Montpelier, and six grand children and other relatives mourn.

Funeral services were held at the First U. B. church, Friday, Jan 22, at 2 o'clock, after which the remains were taken to Riverside cemetery. Rev. J. F. Slough officiated, assisted by the local G.A.R. and Rev. J. H. Kunert. The Montpelier Enterprise, Montpelier Ohio, Thurs 28 Jan 1915 page 1 col 4

Robert Bowen, a highly respected citizen of Montpelier, died in a hospital at Ann Arbor, Mich., Wednesday morning, following an operation which he underwent several days ago. Mr Bowen has been complaining for some time, and a few weeks ago he and Mrs. Bowen went to visit their son Elmer at Coldwater, Mich. There he grew worse and he decided to go to Ann Arbor for treatment. Mr Bowen is a long-time resident of Williams county, having formerly resided in Bridgewater township.
