He was born July 4th, 1921 in South Pekin, Illinois, to Serbian immigrant parents. Theodore and Mary Cvitichanin and spent his childhood there. In the late 1930's his family moved to Bellwood, Illinois to work near the Proviso Rail-yards. He entered the Marine Corps after Pearl Harbor was attacked. He was a Combat veteran of various islands with the USMC. He was seriously wounded on Iwo Jima, and he witnessed the flag raising. After his recovery at veteran hospitals. He joined the Bellwood, IL police dept. where he attained the rank of Sgt, and retired in 1982. He was the past president of DuPage county disabled Veterans association.
